International Women's Day is a holiday that grew out of the International Labor Movement (ILC), the rapid economic growth in Europe and the United States at the turn of the 20th century, including the textile industry, which demanded a large number of female textile workers. On March 8, 1857, workers finally decided to take to the streets to speak out for their rights. Since then, similar protests have taken place almost every year on this day, all for the purpose of fighting for their rights. These labor movements organized by women workers did not attract much attention in the early days, and it was not until a march in New York in 1908 that the situation began to change. This march was very large in scale, with nearly 15,000 women taking to the streets, including not only women workers from Chicago, but also textile and garment workers from all over the country. They gathered to demand reasonable working hours, wages, and the right to vote.

The following year, the U.S. officially declared March 8 as National Women's Day.
